Giles Amazing playing throughout - totally free but totally in control at the same time. Everyone uses their amazing speed of listening and comprehending to create really substantial forms and evolutions. At times the playing seems quite "straight", like one of Miles' ultra slow 60s ballads, but then everybody invents a totally convincing departure. It's incredible how easy it sounds for these masters to create endless beautiful scenes and wonders. Favorite track: Space Trance.

ESP-Disk’ quickly understood why Dickey has released relatively few albums as a leader: he is incredibly demanding of himself. There were multiple sessions by each configuration heard here, not to mention a quartet as well; Dickey kept going back into the studio, pushing himself to greater heights until he was finally satisfied.
